Wenzhou Union International School

WUIS
In early 2021, the Wenzhou Municipal Government endorsed the initiative to launch an international school for children of expatriates in the vicinity in order to meet the growing educational needs of the local international communities. Wenzhou Union International School (WUIS), jointly founded by Wenzhou-Kean University Education Development Foundation and Likeda Holdings, was thus established. Upon approval by the Department of Education of the Zhejiang Provincial Government in July 2021, the School was registered with the Zhejiang Civil Affairs Bureau in August 2021.

Updates on Our Journey as a Candidate School for the IB MYP
As we reflect on the semester that has just concluded, we would like to take this opportunity to connect with you and share updates about the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Years 1-3(Grades 6-8). We are Kashmina Garib (outgoing MYP Coordinator) and Belhira Kajevic (incoming MYP Coordinator), and it has been a pleasure working with you and your children during this academic term. The MYP, developed by the International Baccalaureate (IB), is designed to support students aged 11-16 in applying their knowledge to real-life situations while developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and self-management. At our school, we bring this program to life through engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences. Additionally, we emphasise global awareness, cultural understanding, and community service to help students grow into well-rounded, compassionate individuals. Throughout the semester, students have been actively involved in both formative and summative assessments. The mid-term and end-of-semester tests provided valuable insights into their level of understanding. Following this, they worked on GRASPS* assignments, which encourage them to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios. These tasks emphasise essential skills such as problem-solving and communication. With the support of constructive feedback and self-reflection, we have observed significant growth in our students. Our dedicated teachers have been actively participating in IB workshops to refine their skills and have prepared innovative interdisciplinary units that allow students to explore topics from multiple perspectives. These units launched as early as December 2024 and will continue to offer enriching academic opportunities for your children in the next semester. In Grade 8, students have begun their MYP Community Project, while Grade 9 students are undertaking their school-based community service project. Through regular advisor discussions and inspiring field trips, students had opportunities to explore their interests and build a strong foundation for their projects. As we reflect on the semester, we encourage you to remain actively involved in your child’s education by discussing their progress, reviewing teacher feedback, and attending school events to support their development as lifelong learners. Thank you for your unwavering support and partnership throughout this semester. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Wish you and your family a restful break, and may the new year bring you success and happiness!
